  • This piece was created using gyotaku, a traditional Japanese printing method that originated among fishermen in the mid-nineteenth century as a way to record and honor their catch. Over time, the practice evolved from documentation into an art form. Rather than producing a literal image, I embraced abstraction, allowing the patterns, marks, and impressions of the crab to create a record of its presence.  Crabs are more than familiar coastal animals—they are part of the complex web of life that keeps ocean ecosystems healthy. Their survival depends on clean water, thriving habitats, and balanced marine environments. The fragile impressions in this work remind us that ocean life leaves traces that are easy to overlook and even easier to lose. The image invites viewers to look beyond a single species and consider the interconnected world beneath the water’s surface. Every creature plays a role in the health of our oceans, and every loss can ripple outward in ways we may not immediately see. -schroeder.y   Generously donated by schroeder.y
  • Celebrate beauty, harmony, and prosperity with this exquisite crystal masterpiece from LIULI Crystal Art.

Meticulously handcrafted using the ancient pâte de verre technique, this striking sculpture captures six luminous koi fish swimming in unison within a radiant circular form. Representing the concept of “Six Harmonies,” the design symbolizes balance in all directions—north, south, east, west, above, and below—embodying completeness, prosperity, and good fortune.

Bathed in warm amber and gold tones, the piece evokes the movement of light through water, as the fish appear to rise and glide toward a shared purpose. Two fish emerge in sculptural relief while others are delicately etched, creating a dynamic interplay of depth, motion, and illumination.
